Jaroslav Matuska was born in 1975 in Blansko, a small town in the Czech Republic. He always liked to play with different shapes and materials. When he was 19 years old Jaroslav began working for a small jewellery workshop in a near by city of Brno and it was there he discovered the unique properties of precious metals. Three years later Jaroslav graduated from The College of Art and Design in Prague. He spent the next two years in the city creating custom made jewellery. He was so influenced by the city, and the experience of creating jewellery he decided to start his own jewellery making business.

For the first four years in New Zealand Jaroslav worked in Christchurch and Dunedin for well recognised jewellers experiencing some of the ultimate challenges and joys of this fine art.

Now based in Christchurch, Jaroslav continues to design jewellery that is superbly handcrafted, with the finest of finishes and perfect form.
